With SL Jones & DJ Burn One releasing their new collaborative mixtape, Paraphernalia, tomorrow, the two drop off the album’s final single, “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.” featuring AO usual suspect, Freddie Gibbs.
SL Jones on “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.”:
“With ‘M.E.M.P.H.I.S.,’ everything really started with Burn One. We were kicking it over at his studio, Five Points, and he just started chopping up that crazy MJG sample. A lot of our inspiration comes from Memphis rap, so we titled the song like that out of respect. Just like with Rittz on ‘M.D.M.A.,’ we thought Freddie Gibbs would kill this beat, so we reached out and he killed it. He represents that uncompromising gangster shit that I relate to, that so many people identify with. And even for the people who haven’t lived that life — they can still appreciate the experience.”

Frank Ocean took to his tumblr to share a song that he’s been working on with a caption that read “just at home fuckin around, no judging”. The song titled “Summer Remains” sounds quite beautiful so I’m only hoping that he plans to release it soon. He’s also released the lyrics. Shouts to MissDimplez.
This Wednesday, SL Jones & DJ Burn One will release their collaborative mixtape, Paraphernalia. Today, they are releasing the tape’s latest leak, “M.D.M.A.,” which features Rittz & Ebony Love.
“‘M.D.M.A’ is about addiction, about the way it can make you feel on top of the world and the way it can tear you apart. People mostly associate addiction with hard drugs, but you can be addicted to anything, and when I first heard this beat — the way it gave me a rush — I knew it was perfect for getting that point across. This was one of the first beats DJ Burn One made for Paraphernalia. Rittz stopped by the studio one day and we were playing each other new tracks. I told him I had a song that was perfect for him, and once he heard it, he was all for it. Ebony Love came through and graced us on the hook. She’s so full of inspiration, I honestly believe she could make any song better.”
