After a few strong leaks, Austin emcee/producer M.i has come together with The DJBooth, GoodMusicAllDay.com and us here at AshleyOutrageous.com to bring listeners The Coldplay Sessions in full! The fact that this project was written, mixed and directed entirely by M.i amazes me! There was no way I couldn’t get behind this piece of work. And if you’ve heard the past leaks, you know this guy is about serious business. The project features 15 original records based around samples of UK rock giants Coldplay with features from ScienZe, LQ and Lady A. Tracklist and download link below.

Without further adieu, I present to you all our very first Valentines Day mixtape, The Kissing Game. When I came up with this idea back in December, I knew I wanted it to be executed to the T and who other than Twelve Bar, whom’s own Mantra is “It’s All Love,” would have it been better to team up with? Not many others besides our mutally-favorite mix master, DJ Spintelect. Going back and forth in an email chain since January, we finally have our mix featuring the very best of late 90′s/early 2000′s RnB jams from start to finish. Spintelect has done a hell of a job as expected so my advice is just to hit play, and let it flow.
Featuring 25 of the smoothest cuts from the likes of Mary J Blige, Jaheim, Jodeci, SWV, Aaliyah, Total and many more, there’s no doubt you’ll love the way we drop hits when we’re playing The Kissing Game. It’s All Love. Tracklist and download link below. Also find the ingredients to “The Outrageous Valentine Cocktail” and enter to win a tee from Twelve Bar!

C’est La Vie & Ashley Outrageous have come together to present producer RAAK’s latest effort. The EP entitled Ignorant RAAK consists of 5 remixes off Iggy Azalea’s debut mixtape “Ignorant Art” which she recently released the accapella vocals for. RAAK took the advantage of that and gives the 5 tracks he chose his own bass booming sound that will get your behind movin’ and head bangin’. If you’re looking for something new and dope today, this would be it. My favorite is probably “Backseat Trill Shit” because he just did damage with the Aaliyah and Tupac sample. Last night [12.22] a slew of ambitious microphone controllers took turns reciting verses on the Gramercy Theater stage. First up was Mike Classic, the artist whose name I had seen before, but knew nothing about. He and his hypeman aggressively tried to leave an impression on the early attendees, who also seemed to know little about him. After a late start to the show, his set was cut short, but he was later awarded more time after Emilio Rojas’ performance. Following Mike’s set was Philly artist, Gilbere Forte. With no one but DJ Jasmine Solano to his right, he energetically filled the stage as if he was performing in a packed arena, rattling off a few of his bigger records. Next was Emilio Rojas, and artist who I’ve admittedly lent my ear only a few times. I had no expectations going into his set, and this was furthered as he entered to a Latin instrumental that made a concert-goer behind me mutter, “Who is this, Marc Anthony?” before Emilio appeared. True story. His set was diverse, as he exhibited his ability to both ride smooth instrumentals and furiously spit tongue-twisting sixteens. After Emilio’s exit, Brooklyn native Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire grabbed the mic. Having met eX before, I can say that his performance was much like his personality, laid-back and careless of opinions any nay-sayers might have to offer. Read more »

If you know me, you know that me & my iPhone are best friends. We’re attached by the hand basically. One of my top 5 most used apps is instagram which if you have an iPhone you’re more than likely to be very familiar with or even if you don’t have one, you’ve definitely heard about it! Ok so by now you’re probably thinking.. “What’s the point of this post?”
Well, since Wednesday I’ve been out and about in the art district, mid-town, sobe, and wynwood partaking in Art Basel activities. Today is Sunday and I-Am-Drained. Like I stated before, Art Basel is like SXSW but for Art instead of music, but don’t get me wrong! Music is still very much involved with Art Basel. Any whom, throughout my four days filled with Art, Fashion, Creativity, Music, and free liquor, I snapped a few photos with my handy-dandy iPhone and threw those bad boys into instagram. I saw tons of people walking around with their Nikon’s and Canon’s but unfortunately, I left mine at home to document everything a bit faster and show my twitter/instagram followers some of what I was experiencing.
So, since I’m always posting music, interviews, and everything else about others, I thought why not do my own lil personal post with a photo recap of my Art Basel adventures? Doesn’t hurt right? The pics are super cool anyways, wish I would have took some more but I was having a bit too much fun :)

Nitty Scott, MC has been making major moves and buzz since she dropped her last project entitled , The Cassette Chronicles, which I loved! Last week, she finally dropped Doobies x Popsicle sticks mixtape to keep listeners in tune until we get The Boombox Diaries from her. Compared to her last project you can notice even more hunger. Last time around she basically gave us an introduction of who Nitty Scott, MC is, and now she spits even more fire than before. Yeah, I know MANY of you never heard of her until the BET Cypher and when she had that trending topic spot on Twitter but she has projects out.
Anyhow, since March when her last project dropped that I reviewed a lot has gone on. She’s opened for Q-Tip, Kendrick Lamar, met Rah Digga and more! The first track, “Doobsicles” gives you the behind the scenes on what she’s experienced and overall reaction to her growing success. The beat on this track brings you back to the 90s which is always a good thing as it’s chill, but does not take away from her lyrical content. I love that she always reminds us that she is an everyday person mentioning her family and being a dedicated fan to other artists. Overall, this is great opening track to set off the mixtape.

At 12 am on June 28th, Dom Kennedy gave us another great piece of work coming From The Westside with Love, for the second time. I’m not sure about anyone else, but up until today I was still playing the first installment of From The Westside with Love like it just dropped. Though Dom hadn’t come across my radar until “Best After Bobby” in August 2009, It’s clear that he has grown so much since his first first release in March of 2008, “25th hour”. I did as any fan of a new artists music would and went back to do my research. I was sold. I eagerly waited for the release of “From The Westside with Love” back in March of 2010 like a little kid waiting to get a new bike on Christmas. It was as great as I thought it would be, hence why I said I still bump it like it dropped yesterday. Then today came along, and we got the sequel. Now let me say, I had heard nothing but great things about this project from friends who attended his listening session in LA that I was seriously upset I couldn’t attend. Shouts to my JBC fam for putting together from what it seemed to be an amazing night! So already having high expectations, hoping this sequel would top the first, I entered the westside.
Yesterday I attended the annual UCLA Jazz Festival and I can honestly say that I had the time of my life. Some of the performers were, Little Dragon, Bilal, Talib Kweli, Quadron, Pharoahe Monch, and Lupe Fiasco. Talib’s set was short and sweet but I have no complaints because I always enjoy seeing him perform. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see Little Dragon due to me arriving late, but I did hear them from a distance if that counts. Ha! The highlight of my day was seeing Lupe live. I’ve never gotten the chance to see him do his thing so this was my lucky day. All I can say is he shut it down, period. His radiant energy, from him dancing around the stage, throwing water to the crowd, just his whole hour and a half set had me stunned. I found a new appreciation for him as an artist, and I’m looking forward to seeing him perform again sooner than later. Overall the UCLA students put together a spectacular event, and I’m looking forward to going next year as well. Check out more pictures after the jump
