It’s been a couple years since Red Hook, Brooklyn emcee Kris Kasanova was the prime prospect on many peoples radar due to his unique direction and nostalgic New York rap style which he was praised for on his last project, 25K. But to close out the end of 2015, Kasanova reemerges with a something new for his fans in which he titles The Great Escape.
The seven-track project from Kris features previously-released single “Old Jigga” and contributions from Jarv Dee, Justin Ro$e, Sarah Hutchison, Crystal Caines along with a few others. According to Kris, “The Great Escape” paints the story of a young man transitioning in life and accepting the sobering responsibilities of fatherhood while pursuing a dream.
Kris’ gritty rhymes, and ability to evoke the bleak reality of life for a minority in an urban environment, and being able to simply describing what he sees in the world around him is what separates the rising emcee so markedly apart from not just many of the rap artists in New York but in the game period.
The Great Escape is currently streaming via Spotify, below, and, if you dig it, you can purchase the project on iTunes!
