Fool’s Gold DAY OFF has evolved into an unwavering titan of a music festival ever since its inception in 2010. DAY OFF continues to delight with its unparalleled congregation of talents, thanks to the superlative taste of A-Trak, the co-founder of Fool’s Gold Records. From the newly-added Fool’s Gold labelmates in Rome Fortune and ManMan Savage, to the Yeezy-approved prodigies in Vic Mensa and Post Malone, South Florida was treated to arguably some of the best new-age hip-hop sounds one could possibly amass at this point in time.
The Mana Wynwood Production Village, an immersive space and sound stage that has played host to productions from Iron Man 3 to Kendrick Lamar, served as the official venue for DAY OFF. For the majority of the musical acts for DAY OFF, the South Florida tour date marked their first time in Miami, which means that our erratic rain showers and often-merciless humidity was one aspect they were perhaps not prepared for wholeheartedly. Although it is already the month of September, South Florida is still experiencing the last engulfment of summer heat, before Fall officially comes knocking at our door.
In a similar light to the Rolling Loud Festival, we went ahead and brought along Mariano (@emfigg) to handle the photography for the performances, being as he not only captures action shots in its sharpest form, but also the comparative emotions that are found within the setting. It brings forth much merriment for us to be able to document a widespread music festival like Fool’s Gold Day Off. We will be following this event recap with a conceptual photo diary that we had in the vault, to present a complementary yet remarkably intimate perspective at a later date.
