Jamaica-based record label, Film Noir, have only been fully active for the last month or so but its co-founders BNJMN, Krs. and oshi have been lighting up the SoundCloud community for a while with their frequent collaborations with well known DJ/producers and bangin’ solo reworks of popular cuts.
In the very near future, the collective will be releasing its first project as an official label. Spearheading that campaign are Kingston-born, Virginia-based producer/instrumentalist Masego and Medasin, Film Noir’s Dallas-native. Blending together Jazz Fusion, Trap, House, Trip-Hop, EDM and Future Bounce for one crazy sound called ‘TrapHouseJazz,’ the duo create a contagious and funky single entitled “Girls That Dance.”
The songs producer Medasin crafts this lush, synth heavy beauty around Masego’s warmly soulful and vibrant vocals that sound like a fusion of Miguel, Trey Songz and J. Cole. Pushing the envelope a bit further, Masego even shows off his instrumental skills, playing a bit of his Sax on the track adding to the vibes of this silky song.
Stream and/or download “Girls That Dance” below. It will serve as the first single from Masego and Medasin’s forthcoming The Pink Polo EP.
